Grave concerns over Hitler’s impending invasion of Poland. The inner pages feature an extensive analysis addressing the question of whether Adolf Hitler will attack Poland - and when and how the world powers should prepare for it. On the front page, a photograph of the Polish army conducting a defense drill in preparation for an air raid. “A defense drill against an air attack is currently taking place in Warsaw, ” opens the paper—hinting at what lies ahead. The center pages, devoted to a possible war scenario, state that Hitler’s aggression has driven the nations of Europe into a state of readiness for a conflict that may erupt at any moment. At the time, tensions in Poland - and across Europe, were at their peak. The reporter writes: “Over the past eight days, events have unfolded with lightning speed, from minute to minute; the global mood is so sharpened that it is impossible to know what will happen within the next hour… Hitler’s march across Europe with such brutality has shaken the world…” He describes how easily Hitler overtook Czechoslovakia: “That kingdom, which no longer exists, he captured the country with its eleven million residents using German soldiers in just one day.”  Meanwhile, as Britain, France, and the United States arm in anticipation of a looming war, Hitler has managed to “steal” Czechoslovakia from under their noses. The writer portrays the cruelty of the German army and speculates that due to Germany’s overwhelming strength, Poland might surrender without a fight. He criticizes Britain, noting that speeches do not win wars, and urges the Western powers to realize that Hitler’s conquest is a global, not local, agenda. He proposes placing a boycott on German goods entering America and preparing for the worst. A rare issue of a Jewish newspaper published in Warsaw that correctly read the global political map just months before the Nazi invasion of Poland. 20 pages.
