A special booklet issued in honor of the Passover holiday and Independence Day, in friendly cooperation between two Jewish educational organizations: the Department of Education “Derech HaTorah” (which was a division of the Jewish Agency) and the Center Educatif. “Instead of working in an unorganized manner, we joined together to offer the public, on the occasion of Passover, a joint booklet of rich and varied content, presenting first and foremost our ancient festival in all its many facets. It begins with reflections on Passover by several prominent contemporary Jewish figures; thereafter come various texts concerning the customs of Passover and its origin and meaning. We then present two stories, narratives, and suitable songs that complete the table of contents, the details of which our readers will find at the end of this booklet. Several pages are also devoted to the memory of the victims of Nazism, whom we naturally recall on the anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. Our work concludes with several texts related to Independence Day, which, as is known, is celebrated shortly after Passover” (from the words of Dr. Moskovitz in the introduction). Following articles and sections on the essence of the Passover holiday and its various customs, and stories for the festival from the Jewish Diaspora, there appears a “Yizkor” section describing the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising in April 1943. It is followed by the section “The Seder Night in Prison, ” telling the story of a Jewish boy who was arrested by the Nazis in the ghetto on the charge that he went out into the street without a yellow badge on his clothing. Thereafter appears the story “Passover 1943” and several sections on the celebrations of Independence Day, and on the importance of the day precisely after the terrible Holocaust. 82 pages.
