A collection of autographs of Presidents, Israeli Prime Ministers, and Ministers. Israel - 1950s and 1960s - A collection of 16 autographs of public figures - ministers, presidents, and prime ministers in the State of Israel - sent personally by the signatories to a resident named Yaakov Cohen (and his son Avraham Cohen), after he wrote to each of them requesting their handwritten signature. Israel, the 1950s and 1960s. Most signed on the envelopes in which Cohen’s letters were sent. Included in the collection are the handwritten signatures of: David Ben-Gurion: the first Prime Minister of the State of Israel, the first Minister of Defense, and the architect of the Declaration of Independence. Moshe Sharett: the second Prime Minister of Israel and the state’s first Minister of Foreign Affairs. Menachem Begin: commander of the Irgun and the sixth Prime Minister of Israel. Shneur Zalman Shazar: the third President of the State of Israel, historian, and the first Minister of Education. Vera Weizmann: physician, social activist, and wife of the first President of the State, Chaim Weizmann. Moshe Dayan: the fourth Chief of Staff of the IDF, Minister of Defense, and Minister of Foreign Affairs. (Two signatures appear.) Gideon Hausner: Attorney General and chief prosecutor in the Eichmann trial. Yitzhak Zamir: Justice of the Supreme Court and Attorney General. Shimon Peres: the ninth President of the State of Israel, the eighth Prime Minister, and a minister in numerous portfolios. Zevulun Hammer: former Minister of Education and Culture, Deputy Prime Minister, and leader of the National Religious Party. (Three signatures appear.) Mordechai Ish-Shalom: Mayor of Jerusalem between 1959–1965. Teddy Kollek: the legendary Mayor of Jerusalem who served in the position for 28 years. Eliyahu Sasson: minister in Israeli governments, diplomat, and one of the founders of the intelligence services. Shulamit Aloni: Minister of Education, Minister of Science and the Arts, and founder of the Ratz (Meretz) party. Simcha Ehrlich: Minister of Finance, Deputy Prime Minister, and chairman of the Liberal Party. Mordechai Ben-Porat: minister in the Israeli government, immigration activist, and one of the leaders of Iraqi Jewry. Overall very good condition.
