Tripoli, 1920 - Alzionism - printed by Avraham Teshuva Press - Trablus Gharb - “Zionism” - an impassioned call to the Jewish community in Libya to join the Zionist movement. A rare publication printed at the press of Avraham Teshuva in the city of Tripoli, Libya - 1920. Judeo-Arabic. A rare publication issued in Libya after World War I with the aim of awakening the Jewish community to join the Zionist movement. At the opening, the booklet defines Zionism as a national movement striving to gather the dispersed Jewish people and grant it freedom and political independence in its ancient homeland, Eretz Israel, מתוך the conception that this is a natural right of every people. Throughout its pages, the booklet combines an ideological vision that extols the figure of Theodor Herzl with practical instructions for active participation in the Zionist enterprise, including directives for concrete actions such as the purchase of the “Zionist shekel, ” which grants the right to vote in the Congress, and contributions to the Jewish National Fund (described as the “capital of the nation”) for the redemption of land. The text concludes with an impassioned call to the Jews of Libya to awaken from exile, seize the political opportunity created after World War I, and join the national effort to establish a home for the Jewish people, as signed in Tripoli on 7 Nisan 1920 (March 26, 1920). 7 pages.
