LES JUIF - On the phenomenon of anti-Semitism and its roots with the rise of the Nazi party and the intensification of Jewish persecution. Paris, 1936 - Issue of the French magazine CRAPOUILLOT edited by RAMOND A. DIOR. The issue was released in September 1936 and was entirely dedicated to the topic ”The Jewish Question” amidst the rise of anti-Semitism across Europe. Printed on thick and high-quality paper. “With all due respect to Adolf Hitler... and the other garbage-seekers of the Middle Ages, violence and slander have never succeeded in solving the Jewish question in any country...” (from the introduction). Following the widespread outbreak of antisemitic waves in Germany and beyond, an entire issue was devoted to the phenomenon of antisemitism and its severe consequences throughout history, particularly in the modern era. Included are articles on the legend of the Wandering Jew, references to the Dreyfus Affair, modern antisemitism, the Jewish people’s struggle against this phenomenon in various countries, and the intensification of antisemitism in Nazi Germany. Throughout, the booklet is accompanied by early antisemitic caricatures that appeared in European literature over the past centuries and during the first decades of the 20th century, photographs of Jewish victims of pogroms in the early 20th century, a photograph of the editor of the Nazi antisemitic newspaper Der Stürmer, Julius Streicher, while delivering a speech, the humiliation of Jews in the streets of Munich, and more. Among other items appears a rare photograph of Rabbi Abraham Isaac Kook as the “Chief Rabbi of Jerusalem, ” accompanied by an article on the subject. The issue attacks the Nazi attempt to give hatred of the Jews a scientific character, and expresses concern regarding its grave consequences in the modern age. 72 pages. 32 cm. Good condition.
