Ravensbrück Women's Concentration Camp, established in northern Germany in 1939, was the principal concentration camp for women during the Nazi regime. More than 130,000 women and girls from numerous countries were imprisoned there, along with a small number of men and children. The prisoners endured severe starvation, brutal forced labor, torture, and physical and sexual abuse. The camp was the site of cruel medical experiments, including infection experiments, bone transplantation procedures, and drug testing. Many prisoners were murdered by shooting, beatings, starvation, or were killed by gas in the ”extermination barracks” established toward the end of the war. The mortality rate was enormous, and the camp remains one of the most harrowing symbols of Nazi brutality against women. Size: 27x21 cm. Good condition.
