”I Went to Meet Hitler, It Was an Event I Will Never Forget as Long as I Live...” - Official Booklet for Inculcating the Principles of Nazism among Students in Nazi Germany as Part of the School Curriculum - Ins Dritte Reich - Ergänzungshefte zu deutschen Lesebüchern - Mittelstufe - ”Into the Third Reich - Supplementary Booklet for German Readers - Middle School”. An official publication intended to inculcate the principles of Nazism among students in Nazi Germany as part of the school curriculum. Published by Verlag von Carl Meyer (Gustav Prior), Hannover, 1934 - first edition. Rare. An official booklet used as supplementary educational material in the school system of the Third Reich, with the aim of integrating Nazi political, propagandistic, and ideological content into reading and literature lessons in schools. It was on the basis of such content that the youth of Nazi Germany were educated, and within a short time they themselves became soldiers of the Reich, deeply influenced by the propaganda they had absorbed in their youth at school.  The booklet opens with a description of the heroism of German soldiers in World War I and heroic deeds of Adolf Hitler himself. This is followed by a heroic account of the rise of the Nazi movement in its early years, including the words of Adolf Hitler himself from his book ”Mein Kampf”, describing one of the formative events in the early history of the Nazi Party - the battle in the Hofbräuhaus hall on November 4, 1921, in which he called upon his men to fight to the last drop of blood. This is followed by a passage entitled Die Neugründung der Partei im Bürgerbräukeller (”The Reestablishment of the Party in the Bürgerbräukeller”) by Doramarie Pinkernelle. In a personal letter (Aus einem Briefe), the author describes her emotional experience as a young woman who came with her mother to the Bürgerbräukeller hall in Munich. ”I went to meet Hitler. It was an event I will never forget as long as I live...” She describes a hall packed to capacity; after the orchestra had played, Hitler delivered his stirring speech following his release from prison and the lifting of the ban on the Party's activities. This is followed by a propaganda poem: Sturm überm Land! (”Storm over the Land!”) by Heinrich Anacker - one of the leading poets of the SA and the Nazi movement, a nationalist marching song calling for marches, flags, and the Nazi Party's takeover of Germany. Followed by a patriotic passage by members of the Hitler Youth, and passages on the education of German youth by Hitler Youth leader Baldur von Schirach: ”The National Socialist movement strives to educate the German boy, to make him proud and courageous, and at the same time to teach him not to bow his young head when others attempt to manipulate him unjustly. It is precisely then that a German boy remains loyal to his people when they are in the greatest danger.” A passage by Lothar Schieberhofer appears on the mission of the young German: ”You have sworn allegiance to Germany! It fills a true lad with pride and joy! For him, there is nothing else. He cannot simply turn his back on this magnificent youth movement and join some other organization. He does not merely want to be a member and wear a uniform, he wants to experience it, he wants to fight!... Young people! You do not belong to just any youth club, but you march under the flag of the man who alone can make Germany what it once was, and under his leadership we shall fight to regain our German homeland!” Passages expressing admiration for Adolf Hitler are included, as are descriptions of the ongoing activities of the Hitler Youth on behalf of the Nazi Party and accounts of violent clashes waged by Hitler Youth members against opponents of the Party. Also included is a passage documenting the excitement that swept Germany when Hitler came to power in 1933: ”On the evening of January 30, 1933, the news of victory spread throughout Germany: Adolf Hitler is Reich Chancellor! The news of Adolf Hitler's glorious victory spread indescribable joy throughout all of Germany. Far and wide, swastika flags were raised alongside the old and glorious black-and-white flags, and everywhere one encountered hopeful, radiant faces...” The booklet also contains passages praising the Aryan race, and more. On the cover is a photograph by Heinrich Hoffmann showing Adolf Hitler with the Jewish girl Rosa Bernile Nienau - the famous Jewish girl who regularly visited Hitler's estate at Obersalzberg together with her mother, until he learned that she was Jewish, whereupon he severed ties with her and asked that she no longer come. (See Dynasty Auction 25, Item 124). Beginning in 1933, the German education system underwent a comprehensive process of ”coordination” (Gleichschaltung). Existing educational materials were confiscated and replaced with workbooks, readers, and textbooks rewritten to serve the unquestioning belief in Adolf Hitler and the Nazi movement,
