NAJERA (António de)
NAVEGACION Especulativa, y Pratica, Reformadas sus Reglas, y Tablas por las Observaciones de Ticho Brahe. Con emienda de algunos yerros essenciales [...]. En Lisboa: Por Pedro Craesbeeck, 1628.

¶8, A-S8, T5; [8], 149 ff.: il.; 195 mm.

FIRST edition, very rare, of this important treatise with extensive instructions for the use of tables, magnetic needle and its variations, nautical charts, etc. In the third part of the book, circumnavigation is explained, with references to the Cape of Good Hope, the Atlantic and America, illustrated in the text with several engravings. Bibliographers are divided regarding the author's birthplace. It seems that he was born in Lisbon, as he himself declares, and began his mathematical studies in this city, and left for Spain in order to deepen them. He dedicated his entire life to the study of mathematics, astronomy and navigation, publishing several works on the subject that, according to some, marked progress in cosmography.
