Plate with two views of the Dithmarschen territory: in the upper register, Heide, with houses strung along the main roads and surrounded by fields, dykes and canals, punctuated by windmills and small farms; figures in local costume and explanatory cartouches with coats of arms also appear. In the lower register, Meldorf, with a more compact layout and dominated by the large parish church (the so-called “Dom”), shows the urban enclosure linked by bridges over ditches and channels, opening out onto surrounding farmland and pasture. The composition preserves the maritime and rural character of the region, with toponymic notes, armorials and small titled cartouches. Text printed on the verso in Latin under the headings HEIDA and MELDORPIUM, with historical notices and epigrams on both localities; pagination “38”, from volume V of the Civitates orbis terrarum.
