Costume plate showing regional dress and types from Dithmarschen and neighbouring areas on the North Sea coast, arranged in three horizontal registers with pairs of male and female figures. Each group is labelled with its place of origin—Eiderstadii (Eiderstedt), Ockholmi (Ockholm), Foere (Föhr), Sildia (Sylt), Stapelholmia (Stapelholm), among others—as well as indications of condition (“matronae”, “virgines”, “iuvenes”, “bellicosi”). The costumes are engraved in meticulous detail, with headgear, pleated skirts, cloaks and doublets, together with accessories and utensils (broad swords, staves, agricultural tools, jugs and cups) suggesting status and occupation. To the left, a block bears the title “Diversi Dithmarsorum et vicinorum”; small cartouches and coats of arms complete the composition. Text printed on the verso in Latin under the heading THIETMARSIA, with a historical and geographical description of the region; pagination “37”, from volume V of the Civitates orbis terrarum.
