In the upper register, a landward view of the urban enclosure, densely built and protected by robust ramparts and moats, with gates, bridges and bastions; the large parish churches and the line of roofs and turrets stand out. In the lower register, a seaward view from the anchorage, with a jetty and piles projecting into the water, boats and sailing ships in front of the fortified waterfront; the mass of the main church and the tall bell tower dominates. Heraldic shields flank the upper view; title cartouches identify both perspectives. Text printed on the verso in Latin under the heading HERDERVVICIA, with historical and ecclesiastical notes on the town; pagination “29”, from volume V of the Civitates orbis terrarum.
