The town is shown within an oval enceinte with named gates and suburban quarters; at the centre stand the Cathedral and archiepiscopal palace , with numerous monasteries and churches mapped along the street grid. Explanatory cartouches margin the image; at upper left appear the arms of the Archbishopric , at upper right the city arms ; lower right cartouche credits “Candidus Scotus fecit” as the model for the view. Verso printed in Latin headed BRACARÆ AUGUSTÆ with an alphabetical key; page “3,” belonging to volume V of the Civitates .
