Hand-coloured woodcut; 390 × 560 mm (sheet). Ptolemaic map of the Iberian Peninsula from Münster’s Geographia universalis (Basel editions, mid-16th century). It shows the three classical provinces — LUSITANIA , BAETICA and TARRACONENSIS — with stylised mountain chains, river network (Durius/Douro, Tagus , Anas/Guadiana, Iberus/Ebro), a graticule of parallels and meridians , and surrounding seas: Oceanus Occidentalis , Mare Ibericum and Mare Balearicum ; the Fortunate Islands (Canaries) appear in the Atlantic. Title in a scroll cartouche at top ( TABVLA II EVROPAE ). Verso with Latin text headed TABVLA II EVROPAE , including sections on Hispania and De Lusitania , with woodcut initials.
