Manuel de Mesquita Perestrelo was a sixteenth-century Portuguese navigator who sailed along the eastern coast of Africa. This rutter, dated 1576, describes the south and south-east coast of Africa from the Cape of Good Hope to Cape Correntes, constituting a fundamental document for the study of Portuguese cartography and navigation on the eastern African coast.
