Eduardo Brazão (Lisbon, 1907 - Cascais, 1987), diplomat and historian, member of the Academia Portuguesa da História, was one of the most prolific researchers of twentieth-century Portuguese diplomatic history. A Restauração is his major work on Portugal's diplomatic relations during the period from the break with the Spanish crown in 1640 to the Peace of Lisbon in 1668, which ended the Luso-Spanish war. The book examines negotiations with the leading European powers — France, England, Holland and the Holy See — that were decisive for international recognition of the House of Bragança.
