Formed by a great reader who became a bibliophile, the collection favored works that combined rarity and quality with the interest of the subject, especially the history of Portugal. The collection featured a very complete core of classics, historical and monastic chronicles, pamphlets from the Restoration period, some of the most representative works by foreigners about Portugal, a very complete collection of Lisbon books, and reference works on Portuguese art. Among the treasures were the Letters from Japan and the first edition of the Chronicle of D. Manuel by Damião de Góis, signed by the author. Illustrated with reproductions. A useful tool for studying the Portuguese bibliophile market and for identifying provenances. Estimated. ⚑ Auto-translated via Google Translate
