1979 Knowles Wizard of Oz ”The Grand Finale” (We're Off To See The Wizard) Collector Plate, Eighth and Final Issue - This is the 1979 Knowles ”The Grand Finale” (We're Off To See The Wizard) collector plate, identified as the eighth and final issue in the official Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer ”Wizard of Oz” collection. Manufactured by Knowles of Newell, West Virginia, USA, this fine china plate was officially issued on August 17, 1979. The plate features an illustration by James Auckland depicting Dorothy, the Tin Man, Scarecrow, Cowardly Lion, and Toto on the Yellow Brick Road, with the Emerald City visible in the background. The plate is numbered 344 G and bears a Bradex number 84-41-1.3. Its production was strictly limited to a one-hundred-day firing schedule. The reverse is marked ”not for serving with food because of rare metal pigments used for color-fidelity.” The plate is presented loose on a brass display stand. Condition YES, WE WILL SHIP THIS ITEM.
