U.S. Navy Ship and Event Covers, 1940s–1970s - This lot contains U.S. Navy ship and commemorative covers issued between the 1940s and 1970s. The group includes cacheted envelopes for individual vessels and support groups, with cancellations from shipboard and shore stations. Notable examples include the Detroit River Mail Boat Service (1979), Mare Island Naval Shipyard, USS Staten Island, and multiple U.S. Navy Support Group covers from 1961–1962 featuring official crests. Additional covers commemorate events such as the 35th anniversary of Pearl Harbor, Operation Deep Freeze, the USS Skipjack, and naval Arctic/Antarctic operations. All items bear contemporary cachets and dated postal cancellations.
