Commemorative and Event Covers, 1930s–1950s - Selection of U.S. commemorative and event covers dating from the 1930s through the 1950s. Included are covers marking the 1933 Shenandoah National Memorial, the 1833–1933 Centennial of New York State, the Massachusetts State War Memorial at Mt. Greylock, the 1935–36 California Pacific International Exposition in San Diego, and the 1939 Texas Golden Jubilee at Mineral Wells. Additional covers commemorate the Dublin, Texas Rodeo (1930s), the 1937 First Day Cover for the opening of the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, Navy Day (1934), Long Island Tercentenary (1936), and a 1956 Detroit philatelic exhibition (TOPEX ’56). Also included are advertising and business covers from the 1930s. Postmarks range from the mid-1930s to the mid-1950s.
