1802 Beardsley Sanford (CT 1790-1868) Walking or Great Spinning Wheel - American great wheel, or walking spinning wheel, early 19th c. signed ”B. SANFORD” for Beardsley Sanford (Connecticut, 1790-1868), oak, maple, walnut, and iron, approximately 22” (D) x 70” (W) x 59” (H). This spinning wheel was most likely made sometime between 1802-1811/1812, while Beardsley Sanford was an apprentice to Samuel Sanford (Connecticut, 1743-1817), who had been making spinning wheels since before the American Revolution.
