Odin Rosenvinge (EN, 1880-1957) 1930s Canadian Pacific Travel Poster - Odin Rosenvinge (English, 1880-1957), framed Dutch travel advertising poster, depicting a double-funnel Canadian Pacific liner departing the Liverpool harbor with the Royal Livery Building in the background, printed on the top of the poster ”ANTWERPEN - KANADA EN VEREENIGDE STATEN” (ANTWERP - CANADA AND THE UNITED STATES) in bold black letters. circa 1930s, attached signature salvaged from the trimmed bottom edge, in a modern composite frame measuring 28” x 41”. A two-funnel Canadian Pacific liner steams out of Liverpool harbor with the Royal Livery Building in the background. the transatlantic ocean liner the S.S. United States at sea, with a smaller sailboat in the foreground. Signed lower left ”W.J. Aylward” and with a brass plaque on the frame reading ”'S.S. UNITED STATES Fastest Ship in the World UNITED STATES LINES.” In a blue-grey painted oak frame measuring 23-5/8” x 32-11/16”. The SS United States was built between 1950 and 1951 for United States Line and is the largest ocean liner to be entirely constructed in the United States. It is the fastest ocean liner ever to cross the Atlantic Ocean in either direction, earning the Blue Riband for the highest average speed on her maiden voyage in 1952, a title that still remains uncontested to this day. Advertising prints such as this were often used in travel agencies to promote cruise ship lines and particular ships. Framed travel poster featuring an ocean liner with two yellow smokestacks and a black hull, signed by Odin Rosenvinge. The background includes a cityscape with a prominent clock tower and other architectural elements. The text at the top reads 'ANTWERPEN - KANADA EN VEREENIGDE STATEN' in bold black letters. The poster is mounted in a thin, metallic frame with a brushed finish. Materials: Paper, metal frame. CONDITION: Not examined out of frame. The poster has been trimmed, the signature has been salvaged and reattached to the bottom edge. The poster also has creases throughout and tears that have been repaired with tape on the top edge.
