Japanese WWII Officer's Katana Sword - World War II-era Japanese officer's katana with a 27 1/4-inch curved, single-edged steel blade, copper habaki, circular iron tsuba, relief-decorated fuchi, ray-skin grip with dark tsuka-ito and menuki, and black leather-covered wooden scabbard with single suspension ring. Measures 38 1/2 inches with scabbard. CONDITION: Blade has extensive oxidation and rust staining, localized pitting, coarse linear scratches and heavier corrosion toward the point. Grip wrap is incomplete and loose; the kashira is absent, with exposed wood and ray skin secured by frayed cloth tape. Scabbard leather is heavily worn, torn and separated with losses exposing the wooden core, particularly around the throat and suspension fitting. Metal fittings show oxidation and finish loss.
