Japanese Type 38 Smoothbore Training Rifle - Japanese Type 38-pattern approximately 8mm smoothbore bolt-action training rifle with a 26.5-inch barrel and 44-inch overall length. Purpose-built for training ammunition, with an approximately .30-inch smooth bore, simplified bolt lacking conventional Type 38 front locking lugs, and three-round internal magazine. Full-length military-style wood stock and handguard with dark-finished steel components, adjustable tangent rear sight graduated to 1,700 meters, inverted-V front sight assembly, steel buttplate, sling swivels, barrel bands, and cleaning rod. Japanese institutional or property markings are present on the right side of the buttstock. CONDITION: Metal surfaces show finish thinning, scattered oxidation, scratches, and handling wear. Stock and handguard have numerous dents, dings, scratches, and finish wear. The right front-sight protective ear is broken. Smooth bore shows age and use. Bolt cycles and action operates mechanically; rear sight adjusts.
