Antique German Carved Wood Wall Barometers, c1900 - Pair of antique German carved wood wall-mounted barometers and thermometers dating to the turn of the 20th century. Each features an ornate hand-carved wooden case with Art Nouveau/Jugendstil-inspired openwork decoration, integrated mercury thermometer, and aneroid barometer. The barometer dials are marked in German with weather indications including ”Storm,” ”Change,” ”Fair Weather,” and ”Steady.” One dial is marked ”Astral.” Both display an attractive aged patina from years of use. One thermometer tube has a crack at the top, and one case has minor chips to the carved wood, consistent with age and use. A fine decorative pair for collectors of scientific instruments, meteorological antiques, or early German craftsmanship. Measures approximately 18” x 8” and 19” x 8.5”.
