Michael Rothenstein - Abstract LE Signed Linocut - This powerful abstract linocut by Michael Rothenstein, titled Bronze and Black, is from his acclaimed Two Circle series. Printed in rich black, bronze, and muted blue tones, the composition features two bold concentric circles set against a textured geometric field, creating a strong sense of balance and movement. Sheet size: 35 3/4” x 22 1/2”. Michael Rothenstein (1908-1993) was an influential British printmaker and painter, widely recognized for advancing the art of relief printing in the 20th century. The son of renowned artist Sir William Rothenstein, he studied at the Slade School of Fine Art before developing a distinctive style centered on experimental linocuts and mixed printing techniques. A member of the Great Bardfield group of artists, Rothenstein helped revive interest in original printmaking after World War II. His works are included in the collections of major institutions such as the Tate and the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA).
