Johnson Fare Box Conductor 5-Barrel Coin Changer - Vintage Johnson Fare Box Company 5-barrel mechanical coin changer, dating to the 1920s, commonly used by bus drivers, streetcar conductors, and trolley operators to dispense change quickly while collecting fares. Constructed of steel with five spring-loaded coin barrels and retaining hooks, the changer is marked U.S. Patent No. 1,465,409 on several barrel covers. An excellent example of early public transportation equipment with original mechanical components intact. Displays expected wear, oxidation, and age-related patina consistent with decades of use. A desirable piece of transportation, railroad, and transit memorabilia.
