WWI Propaganda Poster - Original 1917 World War I propaganda poster titled ”Over the Top, Illinois!”, created to promote the purchase of U.S. Government War Savings Stamps (W.S.S.) in support of the American war effort. The design by Louis Bonhajo depicts a determined, white-bearded soldier carrying a rifle, a sack marked ”W.S.S.,” and a bundle of War Savings Stamps beneath the patriotic slogan, ”Mighty Stamps for Liberty.” Illinois-specific fundraising posters from the First World War are highly collectible for their historical significance and striking graphic design.
