Antique Stickley Brothers Mission Oak Armchair - Antique American Mission oak armchair by Stickley Brothers of Grand Rapids, Michigan, dating to the early 20th century, circa 1910. The chair displays the strong rectilinear construction associated with the Arts & Crafts movement, featuring a tall slat back, broad flat arms, square legs and stretcher base. The exposed square tenons on the arms provide a distinctive Craftsman detail, while the oak retains an attractive dark period finish and prominent grain. The seat is constructed with individual wooden slats and was originally intended to support a loose upholstered cushion. The interior rear seat rail retains the factory model/production marking ”485-375.” A handsome and substantial example of early American Arts & Crafts furniture, well suited for a Mission, Craftsman or Stickley collection. Good antique condition with age-appropriate wear, surface marks and finish wear consistent with use. 39” x 26” x 21”.
