Large Chinese Qing Dynasty Cloisonne Enamel Vases - Impressive pair of large antique Chinese cloisonne enamel vases dating to the 19th century, Qing Dynasty. Each is constructed over a copper body with a baluster form, broad shoulders, tall flaring neck, and metal-mounted rim and foot. The vases are extensively decorated in polychrome cloisonne enamels against a rich black ground, featuring large flowering peonies and chrysanthemums, bamboo, colorful birds, and landscape elements. Numerous intricate ornamental borders surround the shoulders, necks, and bases, including stylized floral, foliate, and geometric motifs. Particularly attractive are the opposing bird designs incorporated into the neck decoration. The interiors and undersides are finished in turquoise-blue enamel, characteristic of traditional Chinese cloisonne work. A substantial and highly decorative matched pair displaying dense enamel work and a striking black-ground palette. Good antique condition with age-appropriate wear, patina, and minor surface imperfections. Each 20” tall x 7” diameter.
