He earned bachelor's and master's degrees from Stephen F. Austin State University and became a professional artist in 1975. His detailed narrative sculptures were produced in limited editions, including works for Chilmark Fine Pewter. Don Polland (1932-2003, American) was a Los Angeles-born sculptor best known for miniature Western and equestrian subjects. His early experience working on a thoroughbred horse farm and later as a jockey strongly influenced his art.
