ITALIAN POW TURNS FORCED LABORER IN GERMANY
Scarce German ID card for an 'Arbeitsbuch' or work book, issued to an Italian forced laborer, one of 60,000 POW's rounded up by German troops after Italy signed the armistice with the Allies and forced to do labor in Germany during 'Operation Axis'. Card issued 12. December 1944, to Armando Lorello from Italy, born 2. March 1917, who worked in Marburg, Germany, for DKW Auto Union. Attached is a passport picture of Lorello. 4 x 6 inches, four pages.
