Engraving of Coat of Arms – “JURE, ET NON VI.” From Bruxella incomparabili exemplo septenaria, 1646 – by Jasp. Bouttats - Rare 17th-century heraldic engraving by Jasp. Bouttats, taken from the book Eryci Puteani Bamelrodi: Bruxella incomparabili exemplo septenaria, published in 1646. The engraving features an ornate coat of arms supported by two tiger-like figures. At the top, a crowned helm is topped with a rooster. The shield is quartered with various symbols, including ducks, clovers, stars, and wavy lines. Beneath, a ribbon bears the Latin motto: “JURE, ET NON VI.” – “By right, and not by force.” This engraving is associated with the Lessing J. Rosenwald Collection at the Library of Congress and comes from a work devoted to the city of Brussels.
