Non-Traditional Passover Haggadah – “Geulah” Scout Troop, “Eilat” Battalion | Hebrew Scouts | 1949 - A stirring and rare Zionist creation – this unique, non-traditional Haggadah was produced in 1949 (5709) by the “Geulah” Scout Troop, “Eilat” Battalion of the Hebrew Scouts Movement in Eretz Israel. Entirely handwritten and illustrated, it was reproduced by photo-mimeograph and reflects the emotional and ideological spirit of the post-Holocaust generation during Israel’s War of Independence. This Haggadah opens with texts from Exodus, Song of Songs, and poems by Rachel, Shaul Tchernichovsky, and Shimson Meltzer, and quickly transitions to powerful passages commemorating the Holocaust, illegal immigration, the rebirth of Israel, and the heroism of the fighters who defended the newborn nation.
