Quite good condition. 28 x 23 cm. 320 pages. 1.300 k”g - The First Period: 1911–1944 The journal was founded in 1911 by the Jewish writer and scholar József Patai. It operated as a monthly literary and artistic magazine in the Hungarian language and became one of the leading Jewish periodicals in Hungary. It published literary works, philosophical essays, translations, artworks, and writings by Jewish scholars from around the world. The magazine contributed significantly to the revival of Jewish culture in Hungary and to strengthening the ties between Hungarian Jewry and the wider Jewish world. It was banned in 1944 following the German invasion of Hungary. Resumption of Activity: 1988 to the Present After a hiatus of nearly half a century, Múlt és Jövő was relaunched in 1988 as a quarterly journal. In 1994, a publishing house of the same name was also established. The journal and the publishing house focus on nurturing, documenting, and disseminating Hungarian-Jewish culture, with an emphasis on Holocaust remembrance, literary creation, Jewish research, and the connections between Hungarian Jewry and Israel. They publish literary works, historical, sociological, and Jewish-themed essays, as well as artworks, interviews, and reports.
