Antique Jewish Pewter Plate for Purim – 18th Century Germany | Engraved with “Thus Shall Be Done…” & “Mishloach Manot” - A rare and stunning 18th-century German pewter plate, 24 cm in diameter, richly engraved with a central scene from the Book of Esther: Mordechai on horseback being honored in the streets of Shushan. The Hebrew inscription reads: “Thus shall be done to the man whom the king desires to honor” – the iconic moment of royal recognition. Around the rim appears the phrase: “Mishloach manot ish l’re’ehu” – referencing the mitzvah of sending gifts on Purim. On the back, authentic early German pewter hallmarks are visible, including a winged angel figure, confirming the plate’s origin and time period.
