First Edition – German Avant-Garde Book: Max Pechstein Max Pechstein / Georg Biermann Published by Klinkhardt & Biermann, Leipzig, 1919 - First edition of the seminal German avant-garde series Junge Kunst, Volume 1, dedicated to the Expressionist painter Max Pechstein (1881–1955). This rare volume features a striking lithographed cover by Wilh. It contains 32 plates illustrating Pechstein’s works, including one in color and 32 in black and white, showcasing the artist’s bold, pioneering expressionist style. This edition marks the beginning of the historic Junge Kunst series, which later presented other major figures of the German avant-garde such as Paula Modersohn-Becker, Ludwig Meidner, and Franz Heckendorf.
