Rabbi Binyamin Mendelsohn – Original “Shtar Shlishut” (Debt & Land Settlement Agreement) – Kfar Ata, 1935 - A rare handwritten and signed legal-rabbinical document by Rabbi Binyamin Mendelsohn, Rabbi of Kfar Ata (later Komemiyut), dated 1935 (5696). This document, titled “Shtar Shlishut”, concerns the arrangement of debts, liens, and land sales between several parties — Mr. Meir Nussbaum, Mr. Bruto Hogen, Mr. Hapsel, Mr. Roizenblum, and Mr. Zablevski. Entirely written in Rabbi Mendelsohn’s own hand, it bears his signature and official purple ink stamp: “Rabbi Binyamin Mendelsohn – Rabbi of Kfar Ata, Half Jubilee – P.O. Haifa, Eretz Israel.” At the bottom appears an additional German-language note and pencil signature by Mr. Yechiel Hapsel, confirming part of the transaction. A highly significant document reflecting the legal and halachic authority of Rabbi Mendelsohn in pre-state Jewish agricultural communities of the 1930s — a rare witness to early rabbinic involvement in land and finance matters in Eretz Israel. Details: • Place: Kfar Ata (now Kiryat Ata) • Date: 1935 (5696) • Languages: Hebrew and German • Ink autograph and rabbinical stamp • Condition: Very good; light folds and a small hole not affecting text.
