A rare set comprising the only two parts published of Devarim Atikim, written by Isaac Isaac Benjacob (1801–1863), one of the leading figures of the Hebrew Enlightenment (Haskalah) and a distinguished nineteenth-century Jewish bibliographer. Benjacob is best known for his monumental bibliographical work Otzar HaSefarim, a foundational reference in Hebrew bibliography. The pamphlets address historical and literary topics relating to Hebrew literature and Jewish tradition and reflect the scholarly spirit of the Haskalah period.
