Attributed to Frank Hurley (1885–1962) – The 3rd Australian Light Horse Brigade Returning to their Rest Camp after Action near Latron, Palestine, c. 1918 - Large vintage black-and-white photograph depicting the 3rd Australian Light Horse Brigade returning to its rest camp after operations near Latron, Palestine, during the Sinai and Palestine Campaign of World War I. The panoramic composition shows a long column of mounted Australian soldiers crossing the open landscape of the Judean Hills. The image is associated with the work of renowned Australian war photographer Frank Hurley, who served as the official photographer to the Australian Imperial Force and documented the Palestine campaign in 1917–1918. The reverse bears a later pencil inscription identifying the image as ”Aust. Light Horse in Palestine” together with an attribution to Frank Hurley.
