He is a historic figure for Marvel for several reasons: He is officially the first ever adversary faced by the Fantastic Four in their first issue in 1961 (Fantastic Four #1), marking the beginning of the modern era of Marvel Comics. Alex Ross is famous for his gouache paintings that give superheroes an almost mythological and real look. In this “Timeless” series, he wanted to portray the characters isolated against a white background to highlight every anatomical and material detail.
