Report to Pope Leo XII, 1824 - A six-page handwritten report, 272 x 196 mm, addressed to Pope Leo XII, concerning the restoration of Church control over the ”second Recuperation” provinces. These are the territories of the Papal States returned to the Pope by the Congress of Vienna in 1815, after being annexed by the French Empire and the Kingdom of Italy during the Napoleonic era. These areas differed from the ”first Recuperation” provinces (Lazio and Umbria) in that they maintained provisional governments for a certain period.
