South German master, 18th century- Altarpiece with depiction of the Holy Family - Twisted columns on pedestals support the strongly cranked entablature. A segmental arch arches over the altarpiece. A pediment rises above it, supported by dynamic volutes. The sculpture of the seated Virgin and Child appears in an oval cartouche as an apocalyptic woman above the crescent moon and backed by the sun. The architectural elements imitate red marble, the wall and plinth yellow marble. The style is reminiscent of southern Germany. The altarpiece shows the Holy Family in a landscape, above which God the Father appears blessing in a gloriole. Mary is seated on the left with the naked Christ Child on her lap, who is raising his arms to his Father in heaven. Mary is also looking upwards to God the Father. Joseph, dressed in a blue robe with a yellow cloak, stands on the right and holds his right hand to his chest to affirm his devotion to God the Father. In his left hand he holds a lily as a symbol of purity. Wood, 75 × 44.5 cm (with frame)
