Francesco de Mura( 1696 – 1782) - Francesco de Mura( 1696 – 1782) - MARY AS QUEEN OF HEAVEN IS IMPLORED BY SINNERS IN PURGATORY .. Mary enthroned on clouds in the heavenly realm, holding the infant Jesus in her right hand and several amulets in her downward-facing left hand. Hovering above her are two putti with a crown, thus identifying her as the Queen of Heaven, as well as other putti surrounding her. In the lower part of the picture, the blazing flames of purgatory with several sinners begging her for help. Oil on canvas. 50 x 38 cm.
