Italian masters 17th century - SAINT MAGDALENE AND SAINT HIERONYMUS IN THE WILDERNESS - In a landscape in front of a high cave, indicated on the left, Mary Magdalene with long hair and a blue cloak hanging over her left shoulder, holding a crucifix in her hand and in front of her, on a skull, an open book, and next to it a lying ointment jar attributed to her. Standing behind her in a red cloak is St Jerome as a penitent hermit, who hears the fanfare of the Last Judgement coming from above and strikes his chest with a stone in penance. Rather rare depiction of the two penitent hermits together in one painting. Oil on canvas, 104 x 75 cm.
