Bidspirit auction | Flemish School of the second

Flemish School of the second half of the 17th century- BACCHUS WITH TAMBOURINE PLAYER - In the landscape, leaning against a tree trunk, the god of wine Bacchus with his upper body exposed, ivy and vine tendrils in his hair and holding a bunch of grapes in his left hand, while he stretches his right hand forwards with an empty bowl. Next to him is a young tambourine player who looks at him lovingly and whose gaze he returns in a friendly manner. High-quality painting in which the delicate, light-coloured incarnation forms a stark contrast to the tanned, muscular Bacchus. Oil on canvas. 26.5 x 34 cm.
