17th century Flemish painter - Susanna and the Elders - The painting depicts the story of Susanna and the elders, which is told in the Book of Daniel (chapter 13). In the garden of a palace, Susanna sits naked on a bench at the foot of a pavilion to take a bath in a pool of water in front of her. The two old men approach under the protection of the pillar of the pavilion and attack Susanna from behind and from the side. They pull the white cloth from her shoulders to completely expose her ivory-white body. On the right of the picture, the viewer is granted a view of the garden. Oil on wood, 51 × 37 cm
