Umbrian Master 17th century. - Umbrian Master 17th century. Noli Me Tangere. This 17th-century devotional panel illustrates the biblical narrative of Noli Me Tangere capturing the pivotal moment of recognition between the Risen Christ and Mary Magdalene. The composition is structured with classical balance utilizing an architectural opening that reveals an atmospheric landscape to ground the spiritual encounter in a physical setting. The work showcases the technical lyricism of the Umbrian school through a sophisticated color harmony where the deep blue and ochre-gold of the Magdalene’s garments contrast with the luminous and sculptural modeling of Christ’s figure. The artist employs fluid brushwork to render the complex drapery and delicate facial expressions characteristic of the Italian Seicento. The choice of a small wood panel as a support allowed the master to achieve a high degree of precision and detail . Oil on panel, 34.5 x 24.5 cm Dimensions 34.5 x 24.5 cm
