French Master 18th Century - French Master 18th Century - Venus Presenting Aeneas with the Armor of Vulcan. This sophisticated 18th-century graphic work illustrates a pivotal moment from Virgil’s Aeneid: the goddess Venus descending from the heavens to present her son, the Trojan hero Aeneas, with divine armor forged by Vulcan. The composition masterfully captures the contrast between the ethereal grace of the goddess, accompanied by putti, and the heroic stature of Aeneas, depicted in classical Roman military attire.
