ATTRIBUTED TO GIOVANNI GIACOMO SEMENTI (1583–1636) - ATTRIBUTED TO GIOVANNI GIACOMO SEMENTI (1583–1636) - Allegorical Female Figure with Mirror, Compass, and Globe. This monumental, full-length Baroque painting represents a sophisticated secular allegory—combining attributes of Prudence, Truth, and Intellectual Wisdom. A semi-nude female figure stands in a contrapposto pose inside a darkened chamber draped with rich crimson and purple velvet. In her left hand, she holds an ornate gilded hand mirror—a classic symbol of self-knowledge and reflection—while resting her arm near a stack of covered bolsters or cushions. In her right hand, she delicately holds a brass drafting compass pointing toward her leg, signifying measure, temperance, and precision. Her left foot rests firmly upon a large dark globe, symbolizing dominion over worldly matters and cosmic order. The soft modeling of the flesh, idealised facial features, clear contours, and harmonious balance between Classicism and Baroque naturalism strongly align with the circle of Guido Reni, specifically pointing to his prominent pupil and assistant Giovanni Giacomo Sementi. The light plays dramatically across the figure's pale skin, contrasting with the warm, deep background hues. Oil on canvas, 185.5 x 112 cm Dimensions 185.5 x 112 cm
