Postal history Pre-philately. 1840. Spain. Letter sent from Cadiz on 10.1.1840, delivered to the care of the British Consulate (BC CADIZ), by the packet “Emerald Isle” to Lisbon 11.1, marked P. BRITº (LSB-PB1) in blue, postage 180, with an additional 40 for Porto. It was the first voyage of the “Emerald Isle” to the Peninsula.
